Publisher Cataloging in Publication (PCIP)

Small publishers find it difficult to work within the timeframes imposed by the Library of Congress on requests for CIP cataloging. As a service to these publishers, trained librarians may provide publisher's cataloging in publication in lieu of Library of Congress CIP. DGI has a number of catalogers on staff qualified to provide this service.

These records are loaded to OCLC in addition to being available on the Recorded Books web site and are distributed directly to clients.

The Donohue Group, Inc. creates customized MARC records according to the specifications received from Recorded Books' library clients. Cataloging for these records can be done in OCLC, through a remote connection to the library client's online catalog or delivered in batches, sent directly to the client. These records may contain additional information such as: local call number, location code, barcode, price, etc. DGI also provides shelf-ready physical processing for many of the library clients that request customized MARC records.

Another service that DGI provides for customers of Recorded Books is "in process" records. These records can be used by libraries in their acquisitions systems to streamline their ordering process.
