Andover-Harvard Theological LibraryOld Divinity Collection Inventory Old Divinity Collection (Cutter Classification): in preparation for a building renovation project, DGI inventoried and barcoded approximately 150,000 items which were temporarily transferred to the Harvard Depository.
DGI staff also provided transportation services for the materials.
Rare Book Cleaning and Shelf-shifting DGI supported the Andover-Harvard Theological Library staff in the cleaning and shelf-shifting of approximately 30,000 rare books. Materials were moved in preparation for a building renovation and construction project. | Brooklyn Historical Society In 2005, DGI was contracted to perform an inventory/retrospective conversion/reclassification project for the Brooklyn Historical Society’s 40,000-volume library. The library’s collection had been in storage for a number of years, and needed to be reconciled against the shelf list. This project was done in three phases. DGI performed a complete inventory of the collection, followed by the conversion of the data collected in the inventory into an online database. In this second step, all items were assigned a Library of Congress call number, and spine labels for each item were generated DGI returned to the library to apply all spine labels. DGI staff then shifted the collection, re-shelving every item in Library of Congress call number order. The library reopened to the public shortly thereafter, offering newly accessible historical materials. | Columbia University, Health Sciences Library In preparation for remodeling of the Augustus C. Long Health Sciences Library, off-site relocation of a large portion of the collection was planned. DGI worked in conjunction with movers and library staff to prepare these materials for the storage facility. Approximately 200,000 serial volumes and 104,000 monographs received barcodes, which were then entered into Columbia's database at the DGI office using a remote connection to Columbia's cataloging software. | Francis A. Countway Library of MedicineShelf-reading and Smart Barcoding of Circulating Collection DGI provided staff to shelf-read and apply smart barcodes to the library's circulating collection. 70,000 Monographs and 22,000 Classed Serials were processed. This project also included the integration of approximately 32,000 items from the Boston Medical Library and the Harvard Medical Library Collections.
Rare Book Room Inventory DGI staff performed an inventory of approximately 400 serial titles published prior to 1800. Items were reconciled with the HOLLIS database. | Marymount College, Gloria Gaines Memorial LibraryDGI worked under contract to Clancy-Cullen Moving and Storage, a company specializing in library relocation. DGI provided onsite staff and supervision for the barcoding and relabelling of the entire collection. The project was the result of the need to integrate the collection of the Gloria Gaines Memorial Library at Marymount with the Fordham University Graduate Center collection, formerly held separately within the Library. Prior to integration, the Marymount collection of 80,000 titles was reclassified from Dewey to Library of Congress Classification scheme and smart barcodes were applied. | Metropolitan Museum of Art The Donohue Group has been working with The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City to catalog each of the Museum’s departmental libraries. Each department’s needs are analyzed to ensure the best outcome for the department, library, and curators. Some libraries require full cataloging while others only require reclassification. At the end of each project, the library’s online catalog represents what is on their shelves, and the curators are able to search the Museum’s online catalog to find materials. | National Plastics Center DGI provided cataloging, archives and consulting services to the National Plastics Center to assist public access to their library and archives. The cataloging project included copy and original cataloging, labeling of books, and re-shelving and shifting of volumes. DGI staff consulted on NPC's choice of an integrated library management system (ILMS). DGI's professional archivist processed and described the Center's archives, paper ecords and photographic material donated over the years. The archivist organized and arranged the material into collections and series, re-housed where appropriate and wrote collection-level finding aids based on DACS (Describing Archives: A Content Standard). Each finding aid is described by a MARC record in the library catalog as well. | Psychology Research LibraryDGI provided project management and staffing for the move of the Psychology Research Library collections to temporary storage at the Harvard Depository in Southborough, MA in preparation for a major renovation project. DGI subsequently provided for the orderly return of the collection after the completion of the renovation project. | Widener LibraryDGI was retained to provide project management and staffing to support the removal of approximately 200,000 monographs from the New England Deposit Library (NEDL). DGI updated the HOLLIS catalog to reflect the relocation of the material to the Harvard Depository Library in Southborough, MA. | Yale University, Mudd LibraryYale University’s Mudd Library, containing their extensive government documents collection, will be moving to off-site storage. DGI is pulling each item from the stacks, applying a barcode to the cover, and verifying/adding/editing the bibliographic and item records in Yale’s catalog. Working with a staff of approximately 30 catalogers, DGI is helping provide access to these important government documents.
